What does com.android.cidmanager mean?

All applications installed on android have their unique package name which helps developers to identify the application.

This also helps the android kernel to distinguish one application from others.

com.android.cidmanager is the package name for the CIDManager application installed on Samsung android phones. The application is a notification manager used to verify valid CSC code.

The prefix “com” in com.android.cidmanager means the word “build” “android” means the android and “cidmanager” means the application itself.

What is the problem with CIDManager new service provider notification?

If you have the CID Manager app installed on your smartphone, the most common problem you may face is that it suddenly sends you a “New Service Provider” notification.

Users who have Samsung Galaxy S8, S9 and Galaxy A6 have reported this problem. This notification is also seen on some other devices.

When the New Service Provider notification appears, it says “Tap here to use the app and settings of your new service provider.

” After tapping the notification, another pop-up window appears that says “To use your new service provider’s apps and settings, you must factory reset your phone.

All your user data will be erased and some services may no longer be available.”

It is not yet known what could be the reason behind this issue, but one possible reason could be that the Samsung smartphone does not support Open Market Customization (OMC), so when the CIDManager app tries to match the device’s ODM with the CSC, it gets stuck in a loop and once the match fails it ends with the notification of the new service provider.
